Maybe the Most Versatile

A blanket is a simple but comforting addition to your prop collection. Blankets offer support, comfort, warmth & adaptability to so many postures. They can be folded, rolled, or layered to create a customized foundation that meets your unique needs. Whether you’re using it to cushion your joints- like knees in kneeling postures, elevate your hips for better alignment in seated positions, or as a cozy layer during savasana, a yoga blanket promotes greater ease & relaxation.

The yoga prop you’ve already got laying around the house! Blankets are an easy & intuitive prop to integrate into your practice. I encourage the use of blankets in any style of yoga, but I would consider them essential in gentle, yin, restorative & meditation practices. With the incorporation of a blanket, more poses can feel accessible, comfortable, warm, grounded & nurturing.

Pro Tip: wash wool/cotton yoga blankets with cold water & hang dry. Heat will shrink the wool, but typically not the cotton or synthetic fibers, making your blanket will go wonky.

Blanket Alternative: any kind of blanket will do, but I would recommend one without a lot of squish
